Surely, you will have seen those bizarre portraits created by assembling fruit, vegetables, fishes and more: the pioneer of this type of painting was Arcimboldo, a Lombard artist, son of a glassmaker, who became one of the favorite painters of Emperor Rudolf II in Prague and who paved the way for the relationship between painting, art, alchemy and nature.

What may seem like a bizarre joke, or a game, turns out to be a very refined painting, full of secret symbols and references to magic: we will discover this incredible artist together.
