Itinerary

Let’s explore the glorious mountain of King Herod the great– Herodium, the burial place of the vicious King of Judea. Together we will walk in the recently opened royal stairs uphill to the main palace. We will learn why and how Herod designed the mountain. The site is unique and reflects Herod's personality more than any other place in Israel. We will also talk about the Jewish rebels in the 1st and 2nd century CE that desecrated Herod’s tomb and changed the mountain forever. We will dedicate the session to the late archaeologist, Prof Ehud Netzer whose life's work was invested in this site.d
