Itinerary

Amsterdam is one of the most LGBT friendly places on the planet. So much so that sexuality and gender is not really a defining issue anymore. In this way, every bar in the city is both a straight bar and a gay bar. Nobody cares!

The Netherlands was the first country in the world to legalise marriage equality and, at the strokie of midnight, when the legislation came into effect, the mayor of Amsterdam married 4 couples making the city the first place in the world where this happened.

It wasn't always this way, to get to where we are now, society needed to change and many individual people bravely pushed the boundaries. On this tour ytou will see some wellknown landmarks and hear some lesser known stories of LGBT Amsterdammers that made a difference.
