L'Isle-Adam, A Historic Town on the Edge of Paris

L'Isle-Adam is an ancient town located at the gates of Paris, in the Valley of Oise. It has a large variety of heritage sites and was a haven for many artists from different times such as Jean-Honoré Fragonard and Maurice de Vlaminck, but also for some writers like one of the most famous French authors, Honoré de Balzac, who used to call this town a "little paradise". L'Isle-Adam is known as an inspirational place of the Barbizon School of painters in France and even before that, as a "small Versailles" thanks to Louis Armand de Bourbon, Prince of Conti, who commissioned the construction of an immense château here.

There's an historic center endowed with half-timbered houses, by the waterside of the River Oise, situated at the edge of a national forest named "Forêt de L'Isle-Adam".
