In October, 1998, NCIS established by the Chimpanzee Trust, officially opened it's orphanage and rescue doors to the first 19 chimpanzees, brought in from both Queen Elizabeth National Park and Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC).

NCIS acts as a safe haven for traumatized, orphaned and rescued chimpanzees or chimps. their vision is to ensure chimps are safe in their natural environment, with a mission to promote conservation of chimps and environmental management for sustainable development.

Let's roam as much as we can on the 97acre island habitat sanctuary, meet some of it's long-time residents and understand how NCIS' community programs have enriched a local fishing community within Uganda.
