Itinerary

The palace of the Ottoman Sultans, Topkapi, has been the setting of several world famous movies like the 1964 classic with the same name.

Don’t worry, we do not need to climb down through the ceiling of the museum in order to get closer to its treasures! Instead, I will lead you from one courtyard of the palace to the next, one by one, and explain you all the different buildings in these courtyards mentioning their original functions as well as their use in the museum today.

Topkapi Palace was the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire and the residence of its rulers, the sultans, for almost 400 years. During our one hour tour we will have a closer look at the Ottoman style of living as well as state administration up until the 19th century.

At the end of our tour we will be rewarded by some magnificent views of the city and will have a full picture of its perfect geographical location.

Meet Your Guide

Hi!

My name is Aysegül. You can call me Ayse, which reads like "I-shay" in my mother tongue Turkish.

I am an English-, German- and Spanish-speaking tour guide in Turkey and live in Istanbul. Besides showing the beauties of my country to my guests, traveling and dancing are the two other things that fascinate me most in life.

I look forward to hosting you on my tour.
