Itinerary

During this one hour tour we will explore the ancient natural harbour of Constantinople, the Golden Horn, and talk about the historical buildings we will see from a distance while we walk on the Galata Bridge from north to south. Among these buildings are the famous Topkapi Palace, Saint Sophia, the Galata Tower, the Spice Bazaar and the magnificent Suleymaniye Mosque.

The tour starts in the neighbourhood called Karakoy which was home to powerful bankers during the 19th century who lent the so much needed money to the Ottoman Empire during its last century of rule.

Then we will stroll on the Galata Bridge, talking about the historical buildings we see while wondering where all these boats, passing underneath the bridge are heading to. And whether all these amateur fisherman on the bridge have enough catch for the day.

The tour ends at the southern side of the Golden Horn, in the old part of the city, in the neighbourhood called Eminonu.

Meet Your Live Virtual Guide

Hi!

My name is Aysegül. You can call me Ayse, which reads like "I-shay" in my mother tongue Turkish.

I am an English-, German- and Spanish-speaking tour guide in Turkey and live in Istanbul. Besides showing the beauties of my country to my guests, traveling and dancing are the two other things that fascinate me most in life.

I look forward to hosting you on my tour.
