This is wine tasting from a different angle. So many people are intimidated by wine that they seldom enjoy drinking it in a social situation or even at home on their own because they think that they have to regard certain labels and cultivars as "good" wine whether the taste actually appeals to their palate or not. So move over formal wine tasting, let's enjoy ourselves and the wine we like most.
This experience directs you in how to spot a wine snob at a thousand paces. It also demystifies wine and the processes used to make it and presents wine in an easily accessible, user- (or rather drinker) friendly way. It is not aimed at wine connoisseurs but rather at beginner wine drinkers and those who feel so intimidated by wine or fear they will look silly if they are unable to distinguish "good" wine from "bad".
During this tasting activity you will get to share your experiences of particular wines, you will also learn how to sound like an wine expert at dinner parties and other social occasions and you will gain confidence to try and comment on new and unknown wines which you may encounter on a day to day basis.
You will end the experience with more confidence to try new wines, with knowledge of what some of the key features of wine appreciation are and with the courage to go out there without fear and just enjoy the wines that most appeal to your palate.

Meet Your Guide
Green Beyond Tours & Travel Co.
Even as a young child, Moira was fascinated by the science of wine. She started collecting wine when she was just 14 years old but only started drinking and enjoying it when she was into her 30's.
Whilst working in the corporate world, Moira embarked on studies at the Cape Wine Academy where she graduated from both the Certificate and Diploma courses with distinction (cum laude).
She was later employed by Distell, the world's largest wine and spirits manufacturer and second largest alcoholic beverage manufacturer globally.
When taking leave from work during the harvest season, fueled by her passion to learn more about the art and science of wine, Moira worked (for no pay) alongside the winemaker in a well-renowned wine cellar in the Stellenbosch valley, the second oldest wine producing region and the oldest wine route in South Africa.
For Moira who is a practical person, wine is about art, science, fashion, personal preferences and taste and not so much about the arcane and mysterious language used by the so-called experts that can make wine so intimidating for the beginner.
